Fixing Instructions

Fixings Installation Instructions

Depending on how you intend to fit your board you will need to buy a length of rough-sawn 5cm by 5cm by 2 meter wood from your local builders merchants or diy store, to use as your post.
Posts painted white look a lot better.
If you intend to fix your board to a suitable wall then a shorter length may be more appropriate.
You will also require a 5cm x 60cm x 1cm length of planed wood, again it is best painted white.
In addition to the wood you will need 2 4cm screws.

Put the board against your post. Put the side plate over the board. Screw in the 2 4cm screws through the holes in the plate. (See illustration).

Your sign is now securely fastened to your post.

Decide which method of installation will be easiest, and follow the instructions for the method you choose.  There are four options - they are listed easiest first.

Option 3. Option 3. Screw the post to the stake using the 2x 8cm screws, and sink the stake into the ground.

Check the position of underground services before sinking the stake. Electricity, gas or water pipes are a particular hazard.

Overlap a 60cm stake to your post by 20cm, and screw your stake to your post.

Sink the 60cm stake into firm ground to a depth of at least 40cm.

If you use something very hard (eg sledge hammer), you should protect the head of the stake with a piece of scrap wood.

In exposed situations hammer in the two brace stakes at an angle to the post, then fasten them to the post using a nylon tie.

Option 4. Screw the post to a brick/stone/concrete wall using  2 masonry screw bolts.

** Wear safety glasses when using a hammer drill. **

Drill 2 x 8mm holes in the post.

Then put the post section up against the wall.

Using a 6mm masonry drill start drilling through these holes in the brick/stone. Remove the post then finish the holes to a depth of 4 cm.

Put post back against the wall, and using a spanner screw the masonry bolts in. Do not overtighten.
